Looking Long Enough to See

Slowing down changes what we see. John's Gospel invites us to do the same. In John 2, Jesus walks into the temple, overturns tables, and then makes a baffling statement: "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." His hearers thought they understood what he meant- but they were looking only at the surface.

We'll slow down and follow the threads connecting Eden, the temple, and the image of God, discovering that Jesus' strange words reveal far more than first meets the eye.
